  WOODLANDS  ADOPTION  POLICY & PROCEDURE

-- YOU WILL BECOME a "member of the Woodlands Family", an important part of my breeding program.

-- YOU WILL BE REQUIRED to provide Woodlands with occasional photos & letters, keeping me informed on the pups progress as they grow into an important member of your family.

-- YOU MUST contact Woodlands if you ever have any questions or problems.

-- YOU MUST RETURN the pup to Woodlands
- no questions, no reimbursement, regardless of age -
if it does not work out, if your lifestyle changes or if you become unable to care for the pup.

-- YOU CAN NOT place this puppy yourself or give up ownership
to any other person or Humane Society

My litters are carefully planned to produce brains, beauty and quality, not quantity .... therefore I only have one litter per year.  When you adopt a Woodlands puppy you become part of the Woodlands Family, and only the BEST people, homes and situations will do for one of my babies.  I am the reason why Woodlands pups are born, I become their 'grandma' and take responsibility for them for their lifetime.
Every effort is made to match the puppies with their new families but, as we know, puppies are not made to order so I recommend that my adoptive families keep an open mind as to color and sex.   I form a VERY close relationship with each puppy in my litter: they are born in my bedroom, moved into the livingroom at approx 4wks old and are continually socialized and evaluated for both temperament and conformation soundness.
As a prospective adoptee, your opportunities to observe the puppies are always welcome, but usually limited.  You must be willing to let me select the best puppy suited to your needs based on your answers in the questionnaire, the relationship WE form during the adoption process, my observation of the litter and my 20+ years of living with Australian Shepherds.  I WILL TRY to match your preferences with your new 'baby', but sometimes this is not possible.
Final decisions are made by me at 7-8 weeks old once the litter have their eyes checked by an opthalmologist for any congenital defects and are evaluated by myself and other breeders in my area.

If you are not comfortable with my adoption policy or my contract, please find another breeder!
