'take & bring' to me - so when I drop or can't grab something he can & will. He is a HUGE HELP for me & I have many more things for him to learn. He had a bad start as a pup & went through an extreme fear stage. I knew it was just a matter of him working through this & with help from many friends we managed to achieve the goal. We also realized that he was 'reading me' ,,, on my good days he was fine, on my bad days he wanted to be with & protect me. Now, with his SD training he is turning into the pup that I kept - handsome, confident n knows it! He still will jump at some things but regains his composure n settles within minutes. So, he's not only a benefit to ME , he is also a benefit to himself. He is now doing Double Duty .... show dog & service dog !
July '05 & a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis changed my life. A fall in Oct '06 made me realize that I need help available at all times. I started training "Halen" to be my Service Dog. Passing his test, he is now a REGISTERED SERVICE DOG & can accompany me anywhere I go. I say "Halen, come get your clothes on" & he knows that we are headed out. It amazes me how he knows when to 'just be a dog' & when to 'work'. He still has LOTS to learn but catches on quickly! He keeps me steady n balanced on walks, helps me on stairs & inclines, helps me get up when I fall .... basically he's my 'furry cane'. We're doing well with
